About the show:
Salvation comes at an unholy price when colonialism threatens a Southern African boomtown. It’s 1895 when the convert, a teenager named Jekesai, is thrust into strange new circumstances that pit Ancient African traditions against Western culture and Christianity. When conflict erupts, she must follow her heart and make the ultimate sacrifice.

With an urgent voice, both heartrending and humorous, Obie Award-winner Danai Gurira (In the Continuum and Eclipsed) brings yet another faraway world to the Douglas to enlighten, enrage and ultimately edify audiences.

From November 25 through December 17, 2011 join Room & Board in the spirit of the season as they host a toy drive supporting the Amazing Grace Children’s Foundation (A.G.C.F.), collecting gifts for children and teens who are critically and terminally ill.All gifts must be NEW and UNWRAPPED and can include items such as learning toys, electronic games (Nintendo DSi), clothing, iTunes gift cards, books, DVD’s or anything you think would bring about some smiles for boys and girls of all ages. First Tuesdays at the Bakery: Cart For A Cause

On Tuesday, November 29th from 12:00 – 2:00 pm, the Cart For A Cause food truck parks at Helms Bakery bringing delicious gourmet meals. The featured chef this month is Diana Stavaridis from BLD. All the proceeds from your $10 lunch will go directly to St. Vincent’s Meals on Wheels, preparing, serving and delivering 4,700 meals daily to LA’s seniors, homebound and infirmed. This will be our final Cart For A Cause event this year.
