Creatures on Parade

Watch in wonder and enter the dream world of exotic creatures with stilt puppetry from Dragon Knights Inc. This highly interactive performance group has been inspiring artistic imagination in the community of Street Theatre for over 20 years. The troupe captivates and entertains by bringing to life over-sized “Stilt Puppets”. These whimsical mechanical animals will be on Helms Avenue for two performances, parading their plumage and interacting with guests. There is always a colorful surprise from these creatures!

Performances at 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm

Cardboard Sculpture Garden

Join the crowd and build something great in reDiscover Centers Cardboard Art Station on Helms Walk, our pedestrian plaza on Helms Avenue. With piles of recycled materials and supplies, your imagination will go wild. Work with reDiscover’s Teaching Artists, use curated family-friendly cardboard tools, and learn new construction techniques as you contribute to emerging collective cardboard sculptures on display during Artwalk.

Spooling: Community Journal Workshop

Join Studio 203 and artist collective Spool on Helms Ave to create a community art journal in conjunction with Studio 203’s spooling exhibition. spooling presents new and recent works by CSULB MFA cohorts Lydia Tjioe Hall, Elise Preiss and Jennifer Reifsneider. Over the past decade and across state lines, these three artists held and matured a deep collective consciousness through exchanged art journals, monthly studio visits and collaborative works. Inspired by their traveling journals, Spool is encouraging folks to stamp, draw, stitch, doodle and color in collective journals, which will be on display at Studio 203 on Motor Ave for the duration of the exhibition, through November 19, 2022.

Cadfab Creative is a unique and fascinating blend of standout art, creative workspace, and textile design with its sister company, Cadfab Digital. Cadfab Digital began in a home garage during the late 90’s, and it generated so much business in the film and fashion industries that it soon had to move to a commercial space after the neighbors started to complain of 24/7 noise from the constant printing. Decades later, Cadfab Digital is at the forefront of digital textile printing in Los Angeles. During a pandemic move to its new home in the Culver City Arts District, the team had a brilliant idea to expand their love for art into a multifunctional space where emerging and established artists could display their work and host masterclasses. Cadfab Creative + Art Luxe Los Angeles partnered 3 months ago and the gallery is flourishing.
