Louis Poulsen Hosts a Celebration of Hope Gala Supporting Huntington’s Disease Society
November 17, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm
On Saturday, November 17th from 6:30 to 10 pm, Huntington’s Disease Society and Louis Poulsen invite you to the first annual Celebration of Hope Gala – Shine a Light on HD. The Shine a Light on HD Gala will be a night to remember as members of the Lighting and Architectural Design communities join forces in support of those faced with HD.
Huntington’s Disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure. HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene. Today, there are approximately 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease. Many describe the symptoms of HD as having ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s – simultaneously. Though there is no known cure at this time, researchers are getting closer every day, and your support is needed!
Evening will include an elevated plant based cuisine by Monsiuer Oui, music by DJ Scott Silva, organic and biodymic wines by Bar and Garden, a silent auction, and a chance to bid on an iconic Louis Poulsen Artichoke pendant (color of your choice) – All proceeds benefiting HDSA.
