SOLD OUT – Textile Arts Hosts a Random Weave Workshop with Polly Giacchina
February 22 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
On Saturday, February 22nd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, please join us in welcoming Textile Arts Los Angeles and Polly Jacobs Giacchina in an exploration of the random weave technique with different flexible materials. Medium and small pieces will be created as vessels and stuffed forms. This workshop is perfect for artists and enthusiasts looking for a basis in understanding how to create dimensional form, play with unconventional materials, and investigate how form and material can be combined for creative and functional use.
Materials supplied by the instructor are twine, reeds, wire, natural fibers and fabric. This is a great technique to combine with other basketry and weaving methods.
Polly Jacobs Giacchina had an introduction to fiber with 2 diverse views. Studying at San Diego State University with Joan Austin and independently exploring natural materials with Misti Washington in Solana Beach CA started a unique lifestyle of discovery. She has exhibited in galleries and museums both nationally and internationally and teaches basketry and hand weaving techniques. Polly has been published in American Craft Magazine, Fiber Art Now, the National Basketry Organization Quarterly and several books on fiber art. Polly travels internationally to teach workshops.
Please BYOLunch – we’ll have a break to eat and chat amongst ourselves.
Limited to 10 students. Members $135, non-members $150. No material fee.
