“What could be more interesting, or in the end, more ecstatic, than in those rare moments when you see another person look at something you’ve made, and realize that they got it exactly, that your heart jumped to their heart with nothing in between.”
–Robert Motherwell

“Through the exploration of the artistic canon of Art History, I challenge the viewer to look beyond accepted preconceptions of the context of art. Throughout my life, I have been heavily exposed to an international art scene through museums and self-directed study. This breadth of immersion informs my aesthetic language of artistic genres, styles, and techniques.
I am motivated by the challenge of metabolizing what I see and welcome creative risk-taking as I apply paint to canvases. I often dissect a particular artist or genre, style or technique, through repetitive, serial image making. As I move through this process, I find that styles begin to merge, creating a new contemporary structure. My work is influenced by Basquiat, Picasso, Miro, Van Gogh, Dali, Gorky, Bacon, Frankenthaler, Kandinsky, and Condo”
